Even though there is a lot of conversation surrounding sexuality and acceptance, it is still difficult for many people to express themselves truly. For many people, it is still an obstacle that they struggle with, even if their close friends and family happen to be supportive. We might have come a long way as a society but there are a lot of stigmas still attached to the concept of sexuality and self-expression. To make this conversation more normalized, the best way to go on about it is to simply talk about it, talk about the experiences, the exploration, and how it changes your life.

When someone opens up about their experiences, it inspires other people to let their guard down and share their experiences as well, which is why it is always a big deal when a celebrity with millions of followers opens up about their sexuality. Here are some celebrities and public figures who shared their stories and came out as gay in 2022.

1. Ava Philippe

You might know Ava Philippe for being a complete doppelganger of her mother, actress Reese Witherspoon. While she is actively a part of the Hollywood spotlight, she has garnered quite a lot of Instagram followers. Philippe answered some of their questions on her Instagram account, and one of them included a question about her sexuality. Although she didn’t label herself, she did state that she doesn’t care about gender and that she is “attracted to… people.”

3. Trinity The Tuck

This “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 9 finalist came out as nonbinary and transgender in an Instagram post in march. In the post, she mentioned that when she started doing drag, questions about how she would identify in terms of gender were designed. This led to her starting her body transformation to give off a rather feminine appearance, Trinity even went on hormone therapy for a short duration. However, she recently stopped because she felt that she wasn’t sure about wanting to have a female body. This transition resulted in her coming out as Trans-NB. The most important bit about her post was the message she had for her fans, which mentioned that the reason behind sharing her feelings was to help inspire those who are currently in the same spot as her and feeling alone.
